Murphy Needs help!
I'm hoping for a miracle. I am completely devastated with nowhere else to turn," laments Zachary McC., Murphy's always-on-the-ready companion and best bud for a year. Murphy came into Zachary's life when his brother, a paramedic, rescued two lonely dogs ambling down a street near his station. His brother knew that a dog would be the best tonic for Zachary, who was suffering from depression at the time. And, indeed, Murphy was just what the doctor--in this case, the paramedic--ordered. "He's been my big boy ever since," affirms Zachary. "He is so good at reading a situation, I am constantly convinced he can read my mind, that somehow we have this connection that is deeper than words."
And it is likely that they do, indeed: Murphy goes literally everywhere with Zachary, that is to say, when he isn't snuggled against and in between Zachary's legs and feet. "He is the biggest bundle of energy," and channels it into playtime with the neighbor's dogs, chewing on all his favorite toys, and turning into a rocket, blasting out of the door to go play and walk with Zachary.
Suddenly, this chowhound of a dog refused dinner. Big red flag, indeed. Then, Murphy started to vomit blood. After a few visits to the veterinarian's office, it was determined at the Seneca Animal Hospital that there likely was a blockage. To determine what is precisely wrong, however, this whirling dervish of a dog needs exploratory surgery, at the very least, at a cost that is beyond Zachary's means. He tells us that he cannot bear the thought that "my best friend will die in front of me.
